Belshazzar’s Feast – Friday 10th December – Review

Belshazzar’s Feast

People came from near and far to enjoy a perfect aperitif for Christmas.

Consummate musicians, Paul & Paul, served up a seasonal journey with traditional music and songs – ancient and modern – recalling the spirit of Christmas past.  Their musical cocktail was infused with melodies mixed and spiced with mis-notes.   Audience participation included Penny – on the typewriter, and the singing of carols and modern songs to the tunes of traditional carols – ‘Lonely Goatherd/While Shepherds watched’; ‘Edelweiss/Jingle Bells’ and more.   Medleys included ‘Jailhouse Rock’, “Remember you’re a womble” and ‘The Snowman Theme’ with tremulous kazoo.

There was much chuckling in the Church.

An evening to savour.

Many thanks must go to all who came and served including The Rev. Sue, Chris P., Greville and the Festival Team – Pete, Henry, Lol, Lynne, Nicola, Barbara, Dave Cox; and of course Penny on the typewriter.
