The “Veteran sculpture” – Caerleon Remembers

The “Veteran” sculpture on the riverside of the Hanbury Arms reminds us of the sacrifice made by so many during the Great War of 1914/18.

The addition of a face mask reminds us that, as the First World War drew to a close and in the aftermath, the world was afflicted by the Great Influenza Pandemic; and some hundred years later we are now facing the challenge of another pandemic that has yet to run its course.

              • A time to reflect.
              • A time to pull together.
              • A time to value others.
              • A time to support our front line workers.

Thanks again to Chris Wood for the “Caerleon Remembers” sculpture and thanks to Barbara Gilfillan for the mask.
