Abi Wilson

Abigail Wilson has been playing drums since she was 8 years old, 11 years ago now.

Over the years, she has completed her drum grading with Noel Watson and achieved grade 8 distinction in the Trinity Guildhall syllabus by the age of 16yrs. She began studying for a diploma in drum kit in the months before heading to university.

Abi is currently studying BA Music at the University of Nottingham, as her passion for music grew far and wide. She wants to become a professional drummer and in her first year of being at university she has achieved:

  • Arranging and playing her first year recital.

  • Playing drum kit in the musical theatre society’s production of Addams Family the Musical (and in a further showcase of well-known musical numbers), depping for a drummer on the opening night of 9 to 5 the Musical.

  • Playing in a Big Band and Orchestra on tour to Germany in the Spring.

  • Delved into the worlds of jazz by getting involved with the Peggy’s Skylight Jam Sessions for some improvisational jazz styles once a month alongside her drum tutor, Andrew ‘Woody’ Wood.

Abigail Wilson hopes to play in further musicals and get more involved with the jazz world by playing with the University Big Band to start with. She would love to get involved with all aspects of music and music writing, but particularly focus on performing as this is her natural expertise.
