Monmouth Big Band
Led by Musical Director Mike Prestage, Monmouth Big Band is a highly regarded 19-piece jazz orchestra including two vocalists, with jazz musicians from Monmouthshire and beyond. The Band has an extensive repertoire including tunes composed by Buddy Rich, Count Basie and Duke Ellington from the classic period. They also play more contemporary numbers by composer/arrangers such as Charles Mingus and Thad Jones. More recently, the Band has commissioned and plays a number of pieces by the local musician Gareth Roberts which have been extremely well received. Monmouth Big Band has shared enthusiasm for jazz across a range of venues in South Wales for over twenty years and feels privileged to be able to do so at the Caerleon Music Festival for the second year running.
