The Monmouthshire and Newport Community Choirs were set up by Gwent Music to provide a choir for adults to access within the community. MCC is a mixed SATB choir with 35 members, Newport is an SA choir and both choirs sing a range of musical genres including pop, classical and traditional songs.
The choirs perform regularly, often joining to perform together, the last combined concert being at Newport Cathedral. They also have the opportunity to sing at the Gwent Music showcase concerts, most recently in St David’s Hall Cardiff.
They were very privileged to perform at the Chelsea Hospital last December for the Chelsea Pensioners. This is a concert that will be repeated again this year.
The choirs are always looking for new members of all ages and ability as they range from absolute beginners to more experienced choristers who are “aged late teens and above”!
The choirs believe singing should be fun and the feel-good factor is there for the taking!
Come and hear their performance in the Caerleon Amphitheatre that will take place before ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ – see times above.
