Newport U3A Choir

 Newport SE Wales u3a Choir

The Choir numbers around 80 enthusiastic members, male and female, who enjoy singing a very varied repertoire including the occasional new composition written especially for this choir. The variety is appreciated by singers and audiences alike and we now have a number of “regular” venues which we return to at least once a year – and sometimes more frequently!

A recent and welcome innovation has been singing in four parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass), something which further enhances both the sound and the enjoyment of suitable pieces.

We welcome new members, whether experienced singers or not. There is no voice test and no audition – and it is not necessary that you read music. Thanks to various initiatives of recent years, singing and choirs have again become fashionable and the health and well-being benefits have been proved beyond doubt. This is reflected in the great delight we gain from the pleasure we give to our audiences.

If you have always wanted to sing and you are able to join us for rehearsals on Thursday mornings, please come along and see whether we are what you are looking for. It is worth making contact in advance, however, as times (and occasionally venue) can be subject to change. We occasionally have to meet elsewhere; notably during July and August in the summer break. Belle Vue Park Bandstand, Newport is a favourite alternative, but please make contact in advance to confirm.

Our present concert venues include the Dolman Theatre and churches, halls, residential and nursing homes and hospitals, mainly in the Newport and Cwmbran areas, though occasionally further afield.
