THE 17th CAERLEON FESTIVAL
Friday 5th to Sunday 14th July.
Spring at last with the prospect of Summer and the Caerleon Festival – a much needed tonic in these troubled times.
Preparation continues, but here’s the story so far:
Friday 5th July Shakespeare in the Amphitheatre – “Much Ado About Nothing” performed by the Festival Players (Patron Dame Judy Dench); preceded by the Monmouthshire & Newport Community Choirs; prosecco and buffet bar on site.
Saturday 6th “Lit. on the Lawn” of the Priory Hotel – meet the authors: Michel Faber, Louisa Young, Phil Carradice and more. John Otway will entertain and amuse in the evening.
Sunday 7th Thanksgiving in St. Cadoc’s Church; “The Rob Connelly Band” @ St. Julian’s Inn.
Monday 8th Schools’ Art Awards at the Celtic Manor – by invitation.
Monday 8th“Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band” in the Festival Marquee at the Priory.
Tuesday 9th “Retrospect” @ the White Hart.
Wednesday 10th The “Morriston Orpheus Choir” with soloist, Osian Wyn Bowen, in St. Cadoc’s Church.
Thursday 11th “Ensemble i.a.t.B.” at the Dog House, Caerleon – jazz and other genres – eclectic.
Friday 12th “Jarzino” at the Bell – soul, pop, reggae, rock – gurus of groove.
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th “THE BIG FREE WEEKEND” with over 40 Performers AND
Bands on both banks of the River – Hanbury Quayside and the Bell AND
Arts/Crafts Fair with entertainment including bellringing on the Festival Field/Gateway Meadow.
