Caerleon Festival

CAERLEON FESTIVAL ’17 Friday 7th July – Sunday 16th July

The Priory Hotel Gardens Lit on the Lawn venue

The Story So Far – The Festival programme is taking shape thanks to the efforts of our hardworking volunteers. Here is how it is looking:

THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR in the Amphitheatre on Friday 7th July will benefit from a Priory Hotel bar on site serving prosecco and pints with buffet to complement a memorable night of comedy.

LITERATURE on the LAWN of the Priory on Saturday 8th July offers a programme packed with interest. TV presenter Adrian Masters will be in conversation with authors all day – Kate Hamer, Derek John, Horatio Clare, Tom Bullough, and performance poets Patrick Jones and Atilla the Stockbroker will amuse and entertain in the evening.

BASQUE DAY on Monday 10th July, a day of international significance marking the 80th anniversary of the arrival in Caerleon of Basque children fleeing the Spanish Civil war.  Talks, exhibitions, films, music and Basque food will mark this historic event which seems so relevant to the world of today.  The events will take place at the Priory Hotel with forays to significant sites in the village.

Time and space does not permit more detail at this stage – suffice to say that there will be the Morriston Orpheus Choir on Wednesday 12th July, bands galore and the BIG FREE WEEKEND on Saturday 15th – Sunday 16th July.
