Caerleon Schools’ Arts Awards was held annually at the Celtic Manor Hotel and attended by the Mayor of Newport.
Background to Schools’ Arts Awards Event: From 2003 there has always been a Schools’ Art Awards event supported by 4 local Primary schools and the Caerleon Comprehensive School.
The artwork, selected by staff, represented the best pupil response for skill and/or effort to a theme set by the Caerleon Festival.
This theme, together with starting points, was sent out to schools by Christmas. It was not a condition of entry but the ideas were generally taken up. The year 2020’s theme was:

OUR ENVIRONMENT – OUR BEAUTIFUL PLANET EARTH This is where I live!
To look at and think of things growing and living on Planet Earth.
WE NOW AWAIT TO SEE HOW WORLD EVENTS DEVELOP AND WHETHER WE ARE ABLE TO PLAN FOR A CAERLEON FESTIVAL 2021.
Besides art work schools were asked to submit examples of creative writing from the Primary age groups
Yr 3 –Yr 6 and the Secondary age groups Yr 7 – Yr 9.
The Caerleon Festival acknowledged the sponsorship of Celtic Manor Hotel in providing venue and hospitality for Awards presentation event.
