Shimai is a Japanese word for sisters which is exactly what Angharad & Rhiannon Griffiths are.
Native to Wales and from a musical-artsy family, Angharad & Rhiannon have crafted a contemporary sound that has been influenced from the great musicians of yesteryear and the present such as Joni Mitchell and Kina Grannis. Other influences that are prevalent in the duo’s sound are Ben Howard, First Aid Kit and Fleet Foxes.
Subtle guitar playing and soothing harmonies make the Shimai sound. Expect self-penned indie-folk songs like ‘Heart Beat’ and ‘Turn of The Cards’ mixed up with some rather beautiful cover versions of classic tracks such as ‘Both Sides Now’ and ‘Fix You’
