As a warm up to this year’s Festival, beginning on Saturday 1st July, the meadow was mowed and the paths to sculptures and benches were cleared so that visitors could walk through the meadow to enjoy the wild flowers close up. The weather was beautiful and a good number of volunteers joined in.
A list of all the 34 different plants that have been introduced into the meadow will be on the noticeboard for all to see and find to out how many can be spotted using Google Image or apps such as Wild Flower Id.
Also there are, discretely installed, a number of Bee Barns kindly supplied by friends of Green Caerleon, and everyone to try and keep an eye out for their first residents.
The Meadow team are sure that no one needs to be reminded that the urge to pick the flowers must be suppressed, so that they remain in place for all to enjoy.
