On Friday 7th December ’twas the night before “Christmas.. in Caerleon”.
To celebrate, musicians from far and wide convened at St. Cadoc’s Church with Caerleon’s own Katy Hewson of the Hanbury Arms to morph into the “Ensemble i.a.t.B.” Founded in 2010, the “Ensemble” has performed just about everywhere but Caerleon – an omission to be rectified.
The seven-piece group with piccolo, piano, clarinet, trumpet, flugelhorn, bass guitar and percussion performed a repertoire spanning centuries from Tudor times to today. Mussorgsky was followed by OMD’s “Enola Gay”; Grieg, Bacharach, Holst, Michael Nyman, Booker T, the Specials and so on – an imaginative cocktail mixed by accomplished musicians made for a magical evening.
Congratulations to Katy and Ensemble friends.
